The Guernsey Mailbox

One of my favorite book is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.  Have you read it?  Did you love it??  It is a book composed solely of letters, written between old and new friends just after WWII.  I never knew that the Germans occupied the Channel Islands.  I LOVE a book that entertains me and teaches me something new.  I highly recommend it-  it is beautifully written, funny, and sometimes sad, and rich with amazing characters.   It makes me want to write letters again.  Email and facebook are not the same, are they?

I was also inspired to create what I'll call The Guernsey Mailbox. 

I did not build this, but found an ugly old magazine rack to repurpose.  I painted, distressed, added a great vintage looking glass knob and then decoupaged some vintage looking stamps and a postcard on the shelf.  What do you think? 

I sold it already to a new friend, but look forward to what will inspire me next?
